President Hanoi requested clarification on the case of two journalists being assaulted

The document cites information about the incident of assaulting two journalists while covering a wood factory fire in Thanh Tri district, Hanoi.

Regarding this, the Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee assigned Thanh Tri District People’s Committee to preside and coordinate with the City Police and relevant units to urgently check and clarify the above information; Strictly handle violations, if any.

Results reported to the city before April 27. The City People’s Committee Office is required to monitor and urge agencies and units to implement.

Previously, on the night of April 23 and early morning of April 24, Thanh Tri District Police (Hanoi) received a report of an intentional injury incident that occurred in Viet Yen village, Ngu Hiep commune. The victims are Mr. NVC (reporter for VTV Times) and MHM (reporter for VnExpress electronic newspaper).

According to reports from two victims, on the evening of April 23, Mr. C. and Mr. M. received news of a factory fire in Viet Yen village, Thanh Tri district. After contacting the authorities, two reporters were instructed to enter the scene to work.

However, when two reporters were using their personal phones to record the fire, they were suddenly attacked by a group of three subjects, hindering their work.

This group insulted, threatened, beat reporter C. on the head, causing bleeding, and strangled and kicked reporter M. Some of the two victims’ property, such as phones, were snatched, thrown, or broken by the subjects.

Immediately afterward, two reporters went to the police headquarters to report and received first aid at the hospital.
