Border – On April 24, Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee organized a meeting with Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline workers to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954-May 7). /2024). Attending the meeting were 150 veterans, volunteers, and front-line civilians, representing the people of Nghe An hometown who devoted their strength, flesh and blood to create the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

During the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, along with other localities, Nghe An province was a strong rear support force for the battlefield. Since February 1954, implementing the general mobilization order to serve the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, 5,438 young men from Nghe An province enthusiastically joined the army. Opening the way to battle, Nghe An province mobilized 6,600 citizens, contributing more than 1.5 million working days. Just on the first day of the Lunar New Year in 1954, there were 32,000 citizens of Nghe An province, including 2,000 civilians on bicycles and thousands of new recruits, volunteer workers, and military technical workers who enthusiastically set out for the front line. . Together with the army and people of the whole country, the army and people of Nghe An made important contributions, making the Dien Bien Phu victory “shocking five continents, illustrious on the earth”.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, affirmed that the Dien Bien Phu Victory has been recorded in the nation’s history as a Bach Dang, a Chi Lang, or a Dong Da of twentieth century and entered world history as a brilliant victory in breaking through the stronghold of the colonial slavery system of imperialism. Comrade Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee expressed his emotion when meeting and feeling the enthusiastic spirit of going to war from 150 delegates representing Dien Bien soldiers, TNXP, and frontline civilians present here. Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu expressed his deep gratitude to the heroes, martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers, generations of self-made soldiers, and frontline workers who contributed their youth and blood to make the victory of Dien Bien Phu in particular. as well as resistance wars for independence, freedom and peace for the nation.

Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu requested all levels, branches, agencies and units to continue to further promote the care of wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, families of martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution, ensuring 100 % of people with meritorious services and families of people with meritorious services to the revolution are fully cared for both materially and spiritually, and have an average standard of living better than the standard of living of the community where they reside.
