The above information was said by Mr. Duong Tat Thang, Director of the Department of Livestock (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) at the press conference introducing the 9th International Exhibition on livestock farming, milk production, and meat processing. and aquaculture (ILDEX VietNam 2024).

The exhibition will take place from May 29 to 31, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (HCMC).

According to Mr. Duong Tat Thang, Vietnam’s livestock industry, which was originally small, fragmented, and self-sufficient, is now producing on a large scale and has a high position in the world.

Typically, the waterfowl herd (ducks, ducks, geese, but the most numerous are ducks) ranked second with 103 million birds; The pig herd has more than 30 million heads, ranked 5th and industrial feed output ranked 12th with 20.5 million tons (tops in the ASEAN region).

With the dairy industry, although developing later, milk output will rise to 11th in Asia with nearly 1.2 million tons by 2023 with high productivity ranking 5th in Asia.

The total value of the livestock industry accounts for 26% of agricultural GDP. In 2023, exports of livestock products (honey, salted eggs, suckling pigs, bird’s nest, processed chicken, etc.) will reach 515 million USD.

However, the livestock industry is facing many difficulties such as: dependence on imported input materials, high density livestock farming, environmental pollution problems, complicated epidemics, etc.

“Faced with the challenge of global economic integration as well as the development requirements of the industry, we realize that organizing international exhibitions is very important. Through exhibitions, Vietnam can introduce and promote its image. , the industry’s development potential, trade promotion, market opening and an opportunity for localities, businesses, and livestock farmers to access new information, techniques, and technologies from the world” – Mr. Thang emphasize.

According to the Director of the Department of Livestock, ILDEX VietNam 2024 has the largest scale ever. More than 200 leading companies from around the world and more than 10,000 trade visitors are expected at the event.

New to this year’s exhibition is that the Department of Livestock, in collaboration with the Organizing Committee, will have special support programs to promote Vietnamese products and brands: National Pavilion – Ministry of Agriculture and Development booth rural areas and the “Vietnam Livestock Golden Product” voting program aims to honor and encourage groups and individuals who have contributed greatly to the development of Vietnam’s livestock industry.
