Right from the first half, unexpected developments took place. The Vietnamese futsal team plays a deep defense, takes fewer shots, but is the team with more good opportunities. They had at least 4 opportunities in an advantageous position, and one of them was converted into a goal.

The situation came in the 17th minute. From the free kick coordination situation, Tu Minh Quang received the ball and then tried to pass it to Thinh Phat to tap the ball into the empty net. In addition to this ball, Thinh Phat also had 2 other opportunities but missed them.

In addition, goalkeeper Ho Van Y also played focused, helping the Vietnamese futsal team’s goal not to be penetrated in the first half.

In the second half, there weren’t many opportunities left for coach Diego Giustozzi’s team. They had to defend deep while Uzbekistan created even greater pressure. The Vietnamese futsal team played well and worked hard for more than 15 minutes of this match.

But unfortunately their physical strength decreased so they could not stand. Although Uzbekistan did not play well, they still scored in the 36th minute. After Ropev’s shot hit the ground, Tolkinov jumped high in the second column and headed the ball into the net. It was more cruel for the Vietnamese futsal team when in the 39th minute, they lost the second goal after Juraev’s left kick.

The remaining time was too little and coach Diego Giustozzi’s team could not create a surprise. Losing 1-2, the Vietnamese futsal team has not returned home yet. They will participate in a play-off series to compete for tickets to the 2024 Futsal World Cup. Coach Diego Giustozzi and his team’s first opponent will be Kyrgyzstan.
