On April 24, Hanoi City Police said that Ha Dong District Police arrested Bui Van Giang (35 years old, from Yen Khanh district, Ninh Binh province) to investigate murder.

According to authorities, Giang did not have a stable job, lived a wandering life, often begged for food, and picked up scraps and bottles in Hanoi City.

Around the beginning of April, Giang met Mr. N. (who also often wandered around begging for food) at the My Dinh bus station area, then a conflict arose, leading to Giang being beaten by Mr. N.

On April 20, Giang wandered to the Octagon hut area (Mo Lao flower garden, Ha Dong) to take shelter from the rain when he met Mr. N. lying in the hut. Giang realized that this was the person who had beaten him and chased him away with a saucepan.

The next afternoon, Giang bought alcohol to drink, picked up a bamboo broom handle from the landfill, and returned to the hut in the Mo Lao park area to find Mr. N. to take revenge.

Seeing Mr. N. sleeping, Giang used a broom handle to hit Mr. N.’s head about 2-3 times until the broom handle broke. Mr. N. woke up and picked up bricks and rocks around the hut and threw them, so Giang ran away.

After that, Giang continued drinking. About 30 minutes later, Giang went to the landfill again, picked up a piece of wooden stick, turned around and continued to hit Mr. N. in the head 3-4 times, then threw away the stick and ran away from the scene. As a result, Mr. N. died on the spot.

In the early morning of April 23, Ha Dong District Police arrested Bui Van Giang while he was hiding in Giap Bat Ward, Hoang Mai District.
