The Vietnam Futsal team had the lead but in the end unfortunately lost 1-2 to Futsal in the 2024 Asian Futsal quarter-finals.

This failure caused Vietnam Futsal to miss the Asian Futsal semi-finals this year, as well as the direct ticket to the 2024 Asian Futsal Finals.

However, because Uzbekistan is the host of the 2024 World Cup, Vietnamese Futsal will still have the opportunity to participate in this tournament through the play-off round.

In the play-off round, Coach Diego Giustozzi’s team will face Kyrgyzstan Futsal, the team that lost to Iran in the quarterfinals.

If they defeat Kyrgyzstan, the Vietnam Futsal Team will face the winner of the play-off pair between Iraq and Afghanistan in the “final” to compete for the last ticket to the 2024 Futsal World Cup.

The quarter-final match between Futsal Vietnam and Futsal Uzbekistan took place excitingly right after the opening whistle when both teams clearly showed their determination to win.

Uzbekistan created many dangerous plays, but their strikers could not beat goalkeeper Ho Van Y.

In response, Vietnam Futsal also had a clear chance when Duc Hoa faced the opponent’s goalkeeper, unfortunately he shot wide in the 13th minute.

In the 18th minute, after unsuccessful efforts, Vietnam Futsal finally scored the opening goal 1-0 against Uzbekistan Futsal.

From Manh Dung’s methodical corner kick, Minh Quang had a favorable opportunity to pass back for Thinh Phat to shoot into the opponent’s net.

Leading 1-0, Uzbekistan Futsal increased the pressure entering the second half, creating many dangerous shots towards Vietnam’s goal.

However, Ho Van Y and his teammates played firmly to stop the opponent. Not only that, he also startled the opponent with Anh Duy’s shot hitting the crossbar in the 29th minute.

After this phase, Uzbekistan continued to attack and scored an equalizer after a close-range header from Tulkinov in the 33rd minute.

In the following minutes, the match became dramatic and twice the ball found its way to the goal posts of both teams.

Notably, in the 38th minute, Minh Quang defeated the goalkeeper of Uzbekistan Futsal in a face-to-face situation, but unfortunately the ball found its way to the post and regrettably went out.

The Vietnam Futsal team had more reason to be regretful because just 1 minute later, Juraev decisively shot from outside the penalty area, defeating goalkeeper Ho Van Y at a narrow angle, raising the score 2-1 for Uzbekistan Futsal.

In the remaining time, Vietnam Futsal played hard but could not succeed, thereby leaving the field with a reverse loss and will have to compete for tickets to the 2024 Futsal World Cup through the play-off round.

The fact that Japanese Futsal soon became the former king right from the 2024 Asian Futsal group stage increased Vietnam’s and other teams’ chances of participating in the 2024 World Cup.
