Using professional measures, Room PA05 quickly identified Facebook social network accounts such as “One Heart Towards Buddha – Nun Chuc Tu”, “Mysterious Buddha’s Dharma – Nun Nhan Do”, “Nun Tam” Phuc”, “Mysterious Buddha Dharma – Nun Tam Ha”… posted pictures of pitiful situations to call for charity and support for difficult situations into many personal bank accounts.

Continuing to verify, Room PA05 identified Facebook accounts impersonating Bhikkhuni Thich Nu Tuong Phuc (living in Hue) and using pictures of victims treated at major hospitals in the area. Da Nang, calling for donations for the purpose of fraudulent appropriation of property.

Through investigation, the police determined that the person who committed the fraud was living in Ho Chi Minh City, so they reported to the Director of Da Nang City Police and developed a plan to coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City Police to assign tasks. The working group set out to Ho Chi Minh City to arrest the fraudster.

Immediately afterwards, the working group went to Ho Chi Minh City to conduct reconnaissance and covert operations at many different locations.

On April 18, the working group determined that suspect Le Dinh Hai (26 years old, Binh Tan district, Ho Chi Minh City) was renting a room in Binh Tri Dong ward, Binh Tan district, so he summoned him to the police headquarters.

Specifically, Hai took advantage of religion as well as people’s kindness to create Facebook social network accounts impersonating Bhikkhuni Thich Nu Tuong Phuc to post articles calling for support for the situations. difficulties, illnesses and diseases for the purpose of appropriating property.

Hai also ran ads on Facebook with photo posts calling for charity to reach many people.

Many people have trusted and transferred donations ranging from 20,000 VND to 2 million VND into many different accounts used by Hai.

Of which, Truong Thi Huyen Tran’s account (account number 12731888) received more than 1.2 billion VND; Nguyen Tien Dung’s account (account number 19072133620011) received more than 550 million VND.

From the beginning of 2021 until the time of his arrest, Hai appropriated billions of dong from more than tens of thousands of victims nationwide.

After that, the working group coordinated with local authorities to conduct a search and seize many objects and documents related to the criminal acts of the “super fraudster” of charity money.

The authorities also confiscated more than 12 bank cards of all types with a total transaction amount of over 10 billion VND, the transaction amount in Le Dinh Hai’s personal account alone was nearly 6 billion VND.

Currently, Da Nang City Police have temporarily detained Le Dinh Hai.
