(TCT online) – On April 23, General Director Mai Xuan Thanh had a reception and working session with Deputy Director of the Administration and Peace Building Department, JICA Japan Nozomi Iwama. Also attending the meeting were Deputy Director General of the General Department of Taxation Vu Chi Hung and representatives of several units under the General Department of Taxation.

Speaking at the meeting, Director General Mai Xuan Thanh thanked the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the cooperation programs that have been given to the General Department of Taxation during the past time. Accordingly, from 2005 up to now, the General Department of Taxation and JICA have coordinated to implement support projects through non-refundable ODA capital.

Every year, through seminars, survey programs, and direct work, the Project creates a bridge for Vietnamese officials and tax authorities to listen and learn from international experiences in general as well as Japanese ones. The issue specifically talks about modern tax management methods, access to common standards, and international reform and modernization trends in the tax field. The Vietnamese side also has the opportunity to share and present difficulties and problems and seek solutions, suggestions, and best practices from leading experts and advisors of the Japanese tax agency as well as other organizations around the world.

It can be said that the JICA Project has now been implemented effectively through close coordination between experts and relevant units of the General Department of Taxation in making specific plans and implementing practical activities. for each component, as well as in the exchange between the General Department of Taxation and JICA.

At the meeting, Ms. Nozomi Iwama thanked the General Department of Taxation for the warm welcome, and commented that the Vietnam – Japan relationship in recent times has achieved strong developments in the field of economics. Economic, financial and tax policy consultations have made great strides in cooperation.

Ms. Nozomi Iwama also said that the Japanese Government as well as JICA want to continue to cooperate with the Vietnam General Department of Taxation to build highly effective projects linked to reality. JICA hopes to continue to receive close cooperation, exchange and information from the Vietnam General Department of Taxation./.
