From the beginning of the year until now, many businesses in the province continue to recruit a large number of workers, mainly unskilled workers in the garment and footwear industry. According to statistics, in the first quarter of 2024, 131 enterprises in the province are looking to recruit nearly 4,800 workers (an increase of more than 190% over the same period in 2023); 32 enterprises outside the province need to recruit nearly 1,900 workers (down 1.7% over the same period).

It is expected that in the second quarter of 2024, businesses’ demand for labor recruitment will continue to increase (about 174 companies will participate in recruiting nearly 8,800 workers). Of these, more than 97% of workers do not require technical expertise, the rest require elementary, intermediate, college, and university degrees.

Through understanding the situation, most businesses in the province have received new orders and begun to expand production and business. In general, the labor and employment situation of businesses has improved; There are fluctuations but relatively few, mainly due to the need for businesses to recruit more workers; Some businesses have closed orders until the end of 2024 with partners. However, there are still enterprises in the seafood processing sector facing difficulties due to lack of orders, continuing to narrow production and reduce labor to maintain operations.

On the occasion of Workers’ Month, leaders of the Confederation of Labor of An Giang province discussed and hoped that businesses would create conditions for Communist Unions to promote their roles and responsibilities in taking care of union members and workers. In particular, taking care of cases in particularly difficult circumstances, suffering from labor accidents, occupational diseases, serious diseases… helps them trust and stick with the trade union, and feel secure in their work and labor. production, overcoming difficulties.

On this occasion, the Labor Federation of An Giang province awarded a total of 247 gifts, deducted from the unit’s financial resources. The annual Worker’s Month and Action Month on occupational safety and health are the peak times for trade unions at all levels to coordinate with business owners to organize activities to care for the interests of union members and workers. At the launching ceremony, the Provincial Labor Federation will award 20 cash supports to union members in particularly difficult circumstances, each worth 1 million VND.
