Continuing verification, the Department of Cyber Security and Crime Prevention using high technology identified Facebook accounts impersonating Bhikkhuni Thich Nu Tuong Phuc (living in Hue) and using images of people. treated at major hospitals in Da Nang City calling for donations for the purpose of fraudulently appropriating money.
Le Dinh Hai was arrested for appropriating charity money
Through verification, the police determined that the fraud suspect was living in Ho Chi Minh City, so they arranged a working group to go into this locality to verify and arrest.
NOn April 18, the working group identified the suspect named Le Dinh Hai (26 years old; renting a room at 239/9 Le Van Quoi, Binh Tri Dong ward, Binh Tan district) and summoned him to work.
At the police station, Hai admitted to fraudulently appropriating charity money.
Specifically, taking advantage of people’s kindness, Hai created Facebook social network accounts impersonating Bhikkhuni Thich Nu Tuong Phuc to post articles calling for charity donations to help disadvantaged people. difficulties, sickness, or disease in order to appropriate property.
Many people trust in transferring money to support charity into many different accounts set up by Hai, including an account named Truong Thi Huyen Tran.
With this trick, from the beginning of 2021 until the time of his arrest, Hai appropriated billions of dong from tens of thousands of people nationwide.
At the same time, the police force coordinated with local authorities to search and seize many documents related to Hai’s criminal behavior.
In particular, the police seized more than 12 bank cards of all types with a total transaction amount of over 10 billion VND, the transaction amount in Le Dinh Hai’s personal account alone was nearly 6 billion VND.
