Tra Vinh city is the central urban area of the province, here, people and young people are being affected by the development of online social platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, YouTube and Twitter, especially the epidemic. Covid-19 has accelerated the digital transformation process of both society, urban and rural areas, and has further shown the importance of digital skills for learning.

According to Vietnam’s National Project on Educational Social Development for the period 2021-2030, it calls for ensuring everyone has access to a modern, open, diverse and adaptive education system, but improving Digital skills have not yet been fully and officially integrated into the school curriculum in Tra Vinh city in general and the project area (Ward 8, Ward 9 and Long Duc commune) in particular.

Levels and subject teachers need to update and supplement more knowledge about digital technology and experience operating in the digital environment in order to teach classes to improve digital skills. Therefore, the implementation of the K2 project is necessary to help people in the city have a better life and have more opportunities to access more knowledge in the fields of women’s rights and prevention. , preventing natural disasters, responding to climate change, health,… and the upcoming fields of education and digital technology targeting students and young people.

Over the past 8 years, projects led by Actionaid International in Vietnam and ChildFund Korea have supported Tra Vinh City People’s Committee with more than 21 billion VND to implement project programs to support vulnerable people in Ward 8, Ward 9 and Long Duc commune. Project activities have had a positive impact on the city in poverty reduction from livelihood models, climate change adaptation models, community initiatives to overcome the effects of natural disasters… In In 2024, in addition to the 03 wards and communes of the implemented project, the project will expand to Ward 2 and Ward 6 of Tra Vinh city. Ms. Pham Thi Hong Nhu, parent of a student at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School, shared: Currently, the use of the internet is increasingly popular and students go online to express a lot of “ego” if they have not been educated. Therefore, the application of information technology curriculum deployed in secondary schools helps students improve their knowledge of using the internet, especially helping students learning online to communicate and behave more effectively online.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huynh Hoa, parent of a student at Vo Thi Sau Kindergarten – Primary – Secondary School confided: I am very worried when my child begins to reach the age of joining social networks, while I myself am still confused. Children are not equipped with skills to participate and use information from the digital space. On the other hand, my family has little opportunity to follow our children everywhere and cannot constantly update new trends, so it is difficult to accompany our children in using social networks safely. I am also very curious about the personal financial management skills training program that the project introduces. I am very happy and looking forward to learning with my child when he participates in this project.

Currently, Tra Vinh city has 30 secondary schools learning directly on computers, learning how to safely and effectively participate in the digital space. In particular, students will learn how to manage personal finances and have adequate skills to become responsible, safe and effective citizens when using the digital space.

On the other hand, computer conditions and network connections at the school are limited, students have little opportunity to access programs. Therefore, we hope that the city will continue to support equipment for students to have more effective learning conditions and access to information technology.
