Towards new and improved rural communes
Yen Dong is a mountainous commune with semi-mountainous terrain located in the southwest of Yen Mo district (Ninh Binh province), with a natural area of 2,849.36 hectares, population of 9,621 people with 2,677 households. The whole commune has 17 villages and hamlets, the population is not concentrated, which causes difficulties in arranging and investing in infrastructure.

It is known that people in Yen Dong commune earn their main income from agricultural production. Specifically, the commune has 658.13 hectares of land for rice and cash crops. Due to sunken fields, Yen Dong has converted 189.8 hectares of ineffective rice land to aquaculture combined with rice cultivation… in 2023, the commune will reach 155 hectares. million VND/ha.
Yen Dong commune reached the new rural destination in 2020. With more than 10 years of implementing the new rural construction program, the face of agriculture, rural areas and farmers in Yen Dong (Yen Mo district) has completely changed.

The role of farmers in building new rural areas
Currently, Yen Dong commune has 1,513 farmer members, belonging to 17 branches, including 2 agricultural cooperatives, 1 Song Dang aquaculture cooperative, 2 professional freshwater fish farming farmers’ associations. intensive farming… It is known that the average income per capita in 2023, Yen Dong commune will reach 55 million VND/person/year.

In environmental sanitation work, Yen Dong Commune Farmers’ Association always actively launches the movement to clean village roads and alleys, plant trees to create a green, clean and beautiful environmental landscape.
In 2023, the Association has built 4 pilot models in Trang Yen, Thai Binh, Giai Co, Khe Ha hamlets on “Collecting, classifying and processing waste into organic fertilizer to contribute to environmental protection and agricultural construction.” new village”, with 200 farmer member households participating in the implementation.
