On April 24, at the end of the trial of the case of “Fraudulent appropriation of property”, the People’s Court of Bac Lieu province sentenced defendant Ong Thi Kim Loi (40 years old, residing in Long Thanh commune, Vinh Loi district) to a sentence of 15 years in prison for appropriating more than 5.6 billion VND from hundreds of tour members.

The results of the investigation and trial at the trial proved that in 2016, defendant Loi organized hui groups, inviting hundreds of people living in Vinh Loi district and City. Bac Lieu participates in contributing to receive commissions.

The defendant opened many scams such as daily, weekly, half-monthly, 1-month, 2-month, 4-month, with the value of each scam ranging from several hundred thousand to 5 million VND. During the process of owning the family, the defendant had many members pay late, so he had to use other groups to fill them, thereby discovering that it was easy to take money from the group for personal use. In order to make up for the lack of money, the defendant used a fake name to participate in many scams and scams, impersonating members to steal money, selling them falsely… in order to appropriate other people’s money. On September 1, 2022, the defendant announced his bankruptcy. With deceitful tricks, defendant Loi appropriated money from hundreds of participants in 34 scams and sold them falsely, with a total amount of misappropriation of over 5.6 billion VND.
