U23 Vietnam plays U23 Iraq, coach Hoang Anh Tuan urgently ‘corrects’ his students

The first problem is the bad habits of the players. There are many situations where Vietnamese U23 players commit elementary fouls that lead to penalty cards.

After 3 group stage matches, U23 Vietnam committed 38 violations. This number puts coach Hoang Anh Tuan’s team in the top 5 teams with the most fouls (China U23 46 times, Tajikistan U23 45 times, Indonesia U23 times and Kuwait U23 44 times), top 5 teams with the most yellow cards and reddest card (7 yellow cards, 1 red card).

Among the 8 teams in the quarterfinals, U23 Vietnam is only behind U23 Indonesia in the number of fouls committed. This is an alarming statistic for “golden star warriors”.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan believes that the nature of the problem must be solved at the club, because clearly 3 days ago there were instructors and referee supervisors from FIFA and AFC who came to teach the rules and present similar situations.

“There is a referee to guide but still make mistakes, this is a habit, a lack of training from the club,” Coach Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed.

Professionally, U23 Vietnam often concedes goals in the first half, notably in the match against Uzbekistan at the end of the group stage, losing 3 goals in just over 30 minutes.
