On April 25, the People’s Court (People’s Court) of Tien Giang province tried the case of “violating regulations on bidding causing serious consequences”.

This case has 4 defendants including: Nguyen Ngoc Chon (62 years old, living in Ward 6, My Tho City, Tien Giang Province), Trieu Vuong Tuyen (41 years old, living in Ward 1, My Tho City, Tien Giang Province) , Vo Thanh Binh (58 years old, living in Ward 5, My Tho City, Tien Giang Province) and Dang Minh Uy (36 years old, living in Long Dinh Commune, Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province) were prosecuted for the same crime ” Violating regulations on bidding causes serious consequences.”

According to the indictment, from June 2021 to September 2021, the COVID-19 epidemic in Tien Giang province broke out and became complicated. As Director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Tien Giang province, Nguyen Ngoc Chon directed CDC officials of Tien Giang province to set up advance procedures for COVID-19 test kits, then carry out appropriate procedures. the entire bidding documents were intended to let Viet A Trading – Production and Services Joint Stock Company (Viet A Company) win the bid, causing damage to the State budget in the amount of more than 7 billion VND. After CDC of Tien Giang province paid for the bidding package, Nguyen Ngoc Chon, Vo Thanh Binh, Trieu Vuong Tuyen and Dang Minh Uy were paid a percentage outside the contract by Viet A Company with a total amount of more than 2 billion VND.

According to the investigation conclusion of the Police Investigation Agency of Tien Giang Province, the actions of Nguyen Ngoc Chon, Vo Thanh Binh, Trieu Vuong Tuyen, and Dang Minh Uy violated regulations on bidding, causing damage to The state budget amount is more than 7 billion VND.

After paying for the test kit to Viet A Company, Nguyen Ngoc Chon, Vo Thanh Binh, Trieu Vuong Tuyen and Dang Minh Uy received money from Viet A Company employees in the amount of 450 million VND, respectively. 374 million VND, 420 million VND and 782 million VND. Afterwards, Chon, Binh, Tuyen and Uy voluntarily paid the entire amount above to the Police Investigation Agency of Tien Giang Province.

Previously, the Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee’s Inspection Committee concluded that there were signs of wrongdoing against related individuals at CDC of Tien Giang province. After that, the Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee’s Inspection Committee decided to enforce discipline in the form of expulsion from the Party for 4 people including: Nguyen Ngoc Chon – Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of CDC of Tien Giang province; Vo Thanh Binh – Party member, Secretary of Cell 2, CDC Party Committee of Tien Giang province; Trieu Vuong Tuyen – Member of Cell 2, CDC Party Committee of Tien Giang province; Dang Minh Uy – Party cell 2 member, CDC Party Committee of Tien Giang province.
