Being a remote commune and adjacent to a number of areas of other provinces, the security and order situation in Nam Cat Tien commune is relatively complicated. To prevent crime in general, and especially drug abuse in particular, local authorities have taken drastic action and received consensus from the people.
The entire population actively repels drugs
Recently, Nam Cat Tien commune has implemented many propaganda activities about the harmful effects of drugs from residential areas to schools.
For example, on March 30, the People’s Committee of Nam Cat Tien commune organized a rally and parade to propagate drug prevention and control. This is one of the important events in the series of activities to build a drug-free commune. The parade route is nearly 15km through 5 hamlets of the commune with the participation of forces and a large number of people.
The parade aims to convey the message about the dangers of drugs and the role of the fight against drug abuse to all people in the commune.
Nam Cat Tien commune police are the core force in maintaining security and order in the area and effectively preventing and stopping drug abuse.
In Nam Cat Tien commune, there are currently 3 subjects preparing management records for illegal drug users, 1 subject for post-detoxification management and 4 subjects on parole for drug crimes.
According to Nam Cat Tien Commune Police Chief, Captain Vo Phuong Binh, from July 2023, Nam Cat Tien Commune will begin building a drug-free commune. To achieve effectiveness in work, the Commune Police regularly coordinate with the District Police, Provincial Police and other organizations and unions to carry out drug prevention and combat propaganda. On the other hand, in order for information about crime and drug abuse to promptly reach the people, the Commune Police has launched the Zalo Security and Order model; Drug prevention and combat in 5 hamlets aims to mobilize the strength of the masses to fight against drug evils.
During the process of managing the activities of the Zalo group, the Commune Police propagated nearly 20 times to members of the Zalo group about the crime situation; provisions of law; criminal tricks of the subjects; drug prevention and control work. At the same time, through Zalo, we also record and resolve citizens’ recommendations and feedback.
In addition, the security camera model with 12 clusters and 32 camera eyes in Nam Cat Tien commune also makes an important contribution to the fight against crime in general and drug abuse in particular. At the same time, with active activities from the Veterans Club in propaganda, crime prevention and control and the commune’s volunteer social work team, they have also contributed greatly to preventing drug abuse in the area.
Captain Vo Phuong Binh added that to properly manage drug-related subjects in the area, the Commune Police regularly conduct drug tests; prepare a residence verification record; go to the house to sensitize and educate the subjects to comply with the law. At the same time, the police force also coordinated with bordering areas to monitor the activities of drug-related subjects on bordering roads and strictly handle violations of the law.
Determined to build a drug-free area
Chairman of Nam Cat Tien Commune People’s Committee Tran Van Duy said that thanks to the joint efforts to build a drug-free commune from the government to the people, the locality has achieved many positive results. Most clearly, the commune has completed the target of 100% of households, officials, party members, trade union members, members, employees, workers, and students in the area propagating and disseminating the law on Drug Prevention; 100% of households sign a commitment that the family does not have drug problems, does not grow marijuana plants or plants containing drugs; Complete the Zalo Security and Order model, drug prevention and control to mobilize people to participate in drug prevention and combat.
Mr. Vo Trong Minh is a resident who has lived in Nam Cat Tien commune for 36 years and witnessed a number of crimes committed by drug addicts. Mr. Minh said, this is one of the painful problems occurring in the area, but since Nam Cat Tien commune was chosen as a pilot commune to build a drug-free commune model, drug-related crimes have occurred. drugs in particular, and other types of crime in general are also gradually decreasing. Thanks to that, security and order in the area is stable, people can work and live with peace of mind. This is a very practical model and receives great support from people in the area.
In the coming time, to ensure success in building a drug-free area model, Commune Police will continue to proactively advise local authorities and district Police to develop resolutions and plans to send to local authorities. to departments, branches, unions, organizations and professional teams to jointly implement plans to fight all types of crime, protect political security, social order and safety; directly organize forces to regularly review and firmly grasp the area; Maintain patrol and control activities in every alley. At the same time, coordinate with the management boards of hamlets to propagate and mobilize people to raise awareness, contributing to protecting and maintaining order in residential areas.
On the other hand, the locality will also continue to build a model of job creation for subjects under drug management; Strengthen propaganda work and mobilize citizens to participate in propaganda and seriously implement regulations on drug prevention and control in the locality.
