According to initial information, around 5:10 a.m. on April 25, on the channel of Chanh River (the section belonging to the administrative boundaries of Ha An ward and Phong Hai Quan ward, Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province, an accident occurred that caused the sinking of a bamboo boat. 4 people are missing.

Authorities are mobilizing forces to search for 4 victims.

According to a quick report of the People’s Committee of Quang Yen town, at that time, a bamboo boat with a length of about 6 meters was carrying Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen (born in 1979, residing in Area 12, Ha An ward, Quang Yen town). (vehicle owner) and 5 other people went to the river to work aquaculture.

While moving from Phong Hai wharf to Ha An wharf across the Chanh River, arriving in Area 12, Ha An ward, we encountered a thunderstorm that caused the boat to capsize.

The boat capsizing left 4 people missing, including: Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, born in 1982; Nguyen Thi Mo, born in 1983; Nguyen Thi Nghia, born in 1979, residing in Dinh 1 village, Lien Vi commune, Quang Yen town; Duong Thi Cuong, born in 1966, resides in Cam Lien village, Cam La commune, Quang Yen town.

Ms. Tuyen and Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhip, born in 1980, residing in Nam 2 village, Lien Vi commune, swam to shore and were safely rescued.

Authorities are searching for four missing victims

Immediately after receiving the news, the People’s Committee of Quang Yen town directed the town’s military command, town police, Ha An ward People’s Committee and functional forces of the town to coordinate with the force. Border guards and waterway traffic police mobilized over 250 people and 12 ships and boats for search and rescue.

Currently, authorities are still actively searching for missing victims.
