Dong Thap announced a digital map of lotus at the 2nd Lotus Festival

Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan – Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee – said that the 1st Lotus Festival in 2022 attracted over 100,000 visitors, with total revenue estimated at over 60 billion VND.

Following that success, the province continues to organize the 2nd Dong Thap Lotus Festival – 2024, with the theme “Radiant Lotus” to honor the lotus, promote cultural – economic values, and promote development. Developing the lotus industry associated with tourism development and creating local image, contributing to socio-economic development of Dong Thap province.

“The festival has about 30 activities, notably an international seminar on lotus; a seminar on enhancing the value chain of the lotus industry in Dong Thap province; announcing the first lotus lotus export to Japan; and an art photo exhibition. Southern art, paintings and ceramics with the theme of Dong Thap Lotus; trekking during the Lotus – Tram Chim season…”, Mr. Tuan said.

The festival also has many attractive activities such as: Map of Vietnam made from 5,000 lotus pots; lotus space with 66,000 lotus pots; 5,500 more women paraded in Sen…

In parallel, there is the Industry and Trade Fair of the Mekong Delta – Dong Thap with 250 booths; 60 OCOP products from lotus and over 120 products processed from lotus.

On this occasion, Dong Thap province will announce a digital lotus map that fully shows the lotus industry, including: growing areas, tourist destinations, locations of lotus production and business establishments; Planting area, yield, types… are integrated into a digital application with detailed road maps for visitors.

The festival takes place from May 16 to 19, at Temple of Literature Square, Cao Lanh City.

Currently, the lotus growing area in Dong Thap is about 1,800 hectares, including about 100 hectares of organic, fully mechanized lotus. Thap Muoi district has the largest area with 500 hectares, the rest are concentrated in Thanh Binh, Cao Lanh, Tam Nong, and Lap Vo districts.

The whole province currently has 30 processing enterprises with 120 products including food and cosmetics. Of which 54 OCOP products, one 5-star OCOP product.
