On April 25, Dong Thap province announced the second Lotus Festival in 2024 with the theme “Radiant lotus color”. This year’s festival takes place from May 16 to 19, at the Temple of Literature park in Cao Lanh city, to honor the lotus flower, promote cultural – economic values, develop tourism and create the image of Dong Thap.

The 2nd lotus festival includes 28 activities. Among them, the highlight is the international conference on lotus; workshop to improve the value chain of the lotus industry in Dong Thap province; announced the first batch of lotus exports to Japan; organize international lotus display space; culinary contest of dishes made from lotus; lotus fashion contest; lotus experience tour…
Accordingly, the large landscapes and miniature landscapes of the festival will be unique spaces about lotus, along with attractive activities such as making the largest lotus map in Vietnam; lotus ao dai parade with the participation of 5,500 Dong Thap women; Lotus space with 66,000 lotus pots with more than 57 lotus varieties arranged and arranged beautifully will create an interesting experience space for residents and visitors.
In addition, the 2024 Mekong Delta – Dong Thap industrial and trade fair gathering 250 booths will be a satisfying shopping place for residents and tourists during the festival.
Vast lotus fields in Dong Thap
Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee, said that the first Lotus Festival in 2022 was organized by the province and was a great success, attracting over 100,000 visitors to visit and enjoy. Through the 2nd Lotus Festival, the province hopes to introduce culture and tourism, promote the inherent potential to promote economic activities from lotus, and link tourism development with the agricultural economy. ; Opens up many opportunities for connection and exchange of domestic and foreign businesses and people working in the lotus economy, helping the lotus industry develop to match its inherent position and potential.
Dong Thap currently has 1,800 hectares of lotus and the province chose lotus as one of the five key industries in restructuring the agricultural industry.
Ms. Vo Phuong Thuy, Director of Dong Thap Department of Industry and Trade, informed that the whole province currently has about 1,800 hectares of lotus growing, concentrated in the districts of Thap Muoi, Tam Nong, Cao Lanh… From the existing lotus area, there have been Many businesses produce 120 products from lotus stems, lotus stems, lotus seeds to lotus leaves… Dong Thap lotus products have been exported to a number of Asian countries.
The opening ceremony of the 2nd Lotus Festival took place at 8:00 p.m. on May 16, in Cao Lanh City.
