Comrade Phan Van Ban – Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; The Chairman of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union launched the Workers’ Month and the Action Month on OSH in 2024. He said: From 2020, the Steering Committee Month of action on occupational safety and hygiene coordinated with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to simultaneously launch Workers’ Month and Action Month on occupational safety and hygiene. Action month on OSH 2024 was launched with the theme “Strengthening safety and occupational hygiene in the workplace and in the supply chain”.
“Currently, the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union has nearly 150,000 workers working in businesses, agencies and units. However, the life of a group of workers is still difficult; such as: salary, income, employment; House; work environment; amusement parks; kindergarten; school; protection conditions, labor safety… these are issues that party committees, governments at all levels and trade unions have been making efforts to gradually resolve.“, Comrade Phan Van Ban emphasized.
In recent years, the emulation movement among workers and civil servants throughout the industry has been widely deployed at all levels of trade unions, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate. Promoting that spirit, the Trade Union of Vietnam Tobacco Corporation always organizes and cares for union members, workers and employees with many practical activities such as: Learning about legal knowledge related to the Code Labor 2019, Law on Occupational Safety and Hygiene, Law on Social Insurance; Instructions on basic knowledge about fire and explosion, fire prevention and fighting methods; Periodic health check-ups, occupational diseases, ensuring and improving the quality of shift meals; Giving gifts, giving houses to trade union members, workers and employees in difficult circumstances, suffering from labor accidents, receiving rewards and participating in cultural, artistic, physical training and sports activities.
The ceremony of launching the Workers’ Month and the Action Month on OSH in 2024 of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union officially kicks off and will spread to all trade union levels in the year 2024.
