(THTG) According to the plan, on April 26, the People’s Committee of Tien Giang province will hold a ceremony to announce the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the establishment of Go Cong city.
The ceremony will be broadcast live on Tien Giang Radio and Television at 8:30 a.m. According to Resolution No. 1013/NQ-UBTVQH, Go Cong city was established on the basis of the entire natural area of: 101.69 km2.2 and population size is: 151,937 people of Go Cong town in Tien Giang province. In terms of location, Go Cong city borders Go Cong Dong district, Go Cong Tay district and Long An province.

After arranging administrative units and establishing new wards, Go Cong city has 10 commune-level administrative units, including 7 wards: Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 5, Long Chanh, Long Hoa, Long Hung, Long Thuan and 3 communes: Binh Dong, Binh Xuan, Tan Trung. The resolution takes effect from May 1, 2024. Thus, from May 1, Tien Giang province has two cities: My Tho city and Go Cong city.
This is an important event of the province to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country and the 138th anniversary of International Labor Day on May 1. Also according to the Provincial People’s Committee’s plan, to celebrate the establishment of Go Cong city, on the night of April 26, at the Go Cong Event Center, an art show will take place at 6:00 p.m. and fireworks will be fired. Welcome flowers at 9:00 p.m. to serve the people.
