Share with PV VietNamNetMs. Hoai Thu said she came to Korea in 1994 as a trainee. After 3 years of working here, she married her husband who worked at the same company.

Due to the impact of the international monetary crisis (IMF) in 1997, combined with her husband’s job not going well, Ms. Thu came up with the idea of opening a Vietnamese restaurant. She hopes that doing business at that time can both bring in a stable source of income to cover her living expenses and help relieve her nostalgia for her homeland.

“At that time, I had a lot of free time because I only stayed home to take care of my children. I saw an increasing number of Vietnamese workers coming to Korea, so I thought about doing business. If I open a Vietnamese restaurant, I can both earn more income and enjoy cooking dishes from home to serve the Vietnamese workers here,” Ms. Thu recalled.

Thinking about it, in 2002, she decided to borrow 20,000 USD from her sister (about 300 million VND at that time) to open a shop, naming the shop “Que Huong” with the hope that everyone who comes here will feel the flavor. home.

At the restaurant, Ms. Thu is the one directly in the kitchen, in charge of processing and cooking. The restaurant specializes in serving Vietnamese dishes and specialties of the North, Central and South regions such as bun cha, vermicelli with tofu and shrimp paste, bread, banh xeo, banh cuon, spring rolls, spring rolls, fried rice,…

Among them, beef pho is the most popular dish, attracting both Vietnamese and foreign guests.

When she first opened the shop, Ms. Thu encountered many difficulties. Not to mention the cooking ingredients were not available, she had to ask an acquaintance to carry some spices from Vietnam.
