Efforts to find missing victims in the bamboo boat capsizing incident on Chanh River (Quang Ninh)

According to information from the People’s Committee of Quang Yen town (Quang Ninh), at 5:10 a.m. on April 25, on the Chanh river channel, the section belonging to the administrative boundaries of the People’s Committee of Ha An ward and Phong Hai ward ( Quang Yen town) there was a bamboo boat sinking due to thunderstorms and cyclones at sea.

The boat was capsized by a storm or tornado at sea while traveling from Phong Hai wharf to Ha An wharf, across Chanh river to reach area 12, Ha An ward.

Vehicle owner Nguyen Thi Tuyen and Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhip (born in 1980, residing in Nam 2 village, Lien Vi commune, Quang Yen town) were lucky to swim to shore and were rescued safely. Four people are missing including Nguyen Thi Huong (born in 1982), Nguyen Thi Mo (born in 1983), Nguyen Thi Nghia (born in 1979) residing in Dinh 1 village, Lien Vi commune, Quang Yen town; Duong Thi Cuong (born 1966), residing in Cam Lien village, Cam La commune, Quang Yen town.

Immediately after receiving the news, the People’s Committee of Quang Yen town directed the Town Military Command, Town Police, Ha An Ward People’s Committee and functional forces to coordinate with the Border Guard Station. Ha An, Fleet 1 – Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security mobilized over 250 people and 12 boats to search.

Along with that, Quang Yen town requested localities along both sides of the Chanh River, near the area where the accident occurred, to focus on reviewing and searching for missing victims.

By 9 a.m. on April 25, local authorities mobilized additional search and rescue forces to actively review and search for missing victims./.
