With nearly 150 documents and artifacts, the display has introduced to the public the meaning, stature, and value of the Dien Bien Phu victory, of which the prerequisite factor for that great victory was the power of the great spirit. uniting the entire Vietnamese nation under the clever and wise leadership of the Party, demonstrating the maturity of the Vietnam People’s Army. That eternal spirit is the driving force that strengthens the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army on the path of innovation, integration and national development.

The exhibition consists of 2 parts: Part I – Dien Bien Phu – Historical rendezvous, introducing the plot of the French colonialists in the Nava plan; Our Party’s policy of opening the Dien Bien Phu Campaign; Geographical location of Dien Bien Phu.

In this part, the public will learn more about the strategic location of Dien Bien Phu. Dien Bien Phu is a large valley in the west of the Northwest mountainous region, near the Vietnam – Laos border, located at the intersection of many important large and small roads. For the French colonialists, Dien Bien Phu was a very important strategic area, a mobile strategic position between Northern Vietnam, Upper Laos and Southwest China. This place could become a very powerful army and air force base in their invasion plot in Southeast Asia.

On November 20, 1953, the French colonialists parachuted troops into Dien Bien Phu and built here the strongest stronghold in Indochina. On December 6, 1953, President Ho Chi Minh and the Politburo met and decided to open the Dien Bien Phu campaign with the determination to destroy this stronghold group.

Part 2: Determined to fight, determined to win, introducing a collection of documents, artifacts, and images demonstrating the spirit of “All for the front line, all for victory” of the Vietnamese army and people during the Dien Bien Phu campaign .

The public also saw images of the victorious Dien Bien Phu Campaign, where soldiers took over the capital. The Geneva Agreement on ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina was signed, successfully ending the Vietnamese people’s resistance war against the French colonial invasion.

The exhibition is open from April 25 to June 2024.

On this occasion, the National Museum of History in collaboration with the Tourism Information Center (Vietnam National Tourism Administration) organized the launching ceremony of the “Online – Interconnected – Multimodal” electronic ticket system.
