On April 25, the Police Investigation Agency of An Giang Province announced that it had served the decision to prosecute the defendant and temporarily detained Mr. Dao Van Ngoc – Vice Chairman of Long Xuyen City People’s Committee, due to his involvement in the case. Regarding the above case, previously on April 12, the Police Investigation Agency of An Giang Provincial Police prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Nguyen Bao Sinh – Vice Chairman of Long Xuyen City People’s Committee.
On April 1, the Police Department of An Giang Province sent a document to the Standing Committee of Long Xuyen City People’s Committee summoning and inviting 15 officers and civil servants of this unit to serve the investigation; including 2 city vice presidents.
On March 31, the Provincial Police Investigation Police Department prosecuted and temporarily detained Huynh Le Phong (61 years old, residing in Long Xuyen City) – former Head of the Natural Resources and Environment Department of Long Xuyen City – on the charge of violating regulations on compensation and support. support and resettlement when the state recovers land.
Also prosecuted and detained were: Nguyen Thanh Phong (36 years old), an officer of Long Xuyen City Land Fund Development Center and Nguyen Thien Thanh (48 years old), an officer of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Long Xuyen City.
During the investigation process, the police determined that since 2019, Mr. Vo Van Trung (56 years old, residing in Long Xuyen City) took advantage of his position as Deputy Director and Director of Long Xuyen City Land Fund Development Center, made false documents to illegally grant 5 plots of residential land managed by this center.
After having 3 land use rights certificates, people sold 2 plots for 7.2 billion VND. After that, the above two plots of land continued to be sold to others for 11.5 billion VND.
On July 21, 2022, Long Xuyen City Inspector transferred the prosecution proposal to the police at the same level for processing.
On August 1, 2022, Mr. Vo Van Trung was found dead at his home by relatives.
On August 2, 2022, the Investigation Police Department of An Giang Province accepted and resolved the petition to prosecute the case of Abuse of position and power to appropriate property and Forgery in work that occurred from 2019 to July 7. 2022 at Long Xuyen City Land Fund Development Center.
