On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 – May 7, 2024), on April 25, the Fatherland Front Committee of Ninh Binh province organized a meeting to pay tribute to Dien Bien soldiers and young people. Presenting the opening speech, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Ha – Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Ninh Binh province affirmed: Throughout the history of the struggle to build and defend the country, especially through the two resistance wars, Ninh Binh has a special position. especially important in the defense strategy, always the focus of the enemy’s operations to capture and bomb sabotage.

Implementing the resolution of the Party Central Committee, on January 20, 1954, the Provincial Party Standing Committee issued a resolution clearly stating 6 tasks of the entire Party Committee, army and people of Ninh Binh province to serve all tasks of Winter-Spring 1953. -1954.

Accordingly, by early 1954, the number and types of transport vehicles serving combat had increased one and a half times compared to previous years; Tens of thousands of citizens were mobilized and organized to serve the campaign, transporting rice from the forward station No. 1 in Nho Quan district to the foot of Pha Din pass.

From February to April 1954 alone, the entire province had 3,716 young people enlisted in the army, adding to the main army units of the Ministry, inter-regional and local units. The army and people of Ninh Binh have expressed their will to be self-reliant and self-reliant, both dedicating themselves to serving the Dien Bien Phu campaign and fighting heroically, contributing to the defeat of every last enemy plot in the province.

During the process of fighting and serving in the Dien Bien Phu campaign, the army and people of Ninh Binh were awarded 11,677 orders and medals of all kinds by the National Assembly and the Government; 3,426 certificates of merit from the Prime Minister; 1,446 Victory Medals; 1 soldier competes in the entire army; 43 soldiers competing in inter-regional and provincial competition; 1 district, 25 communes and 2 individuals were honored by the President with the title of Hero of the armed forces during the anti-French period.

By December 2023, the entire province had 65 martyrs, 163 Dien Bien soldiers and 4,246 frontline civilians directly participating in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. After returning to normal life, Dien Bien soldiers of the past, no matter what position they held, still maintained the nature of ‘Uncle Ho’s soldiers’, encouraging each other to live happily and healthily; is a shining example for children and grandchildren to follow.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Doan Minh Huan – Secretary of the Ninh Binh Provincial Party Committee sent his thanks to the 70 delegates representing 163 Dien Bien soldiers and more than 4,000 frontline workers in Ninh Binh who directly participated in the Dien Bien campaign. Bien Phu was present at the meeting and expressed gratitude.

With the slogan ‘All for the front line, everything for victory’, along with compatriots and soldiers across the country, the army and people of Ninh Binh devoted all resources and efforts to contribute to the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

Sharing at the meeting, Mr. Doan Minh Huan was touched when most of the grandparents and uncles were over 85 years old, many of them had poor health, but still burned with enthusiasm and radiated the spirit of Dien Bien. in the past.

Recalling old memories, Mr. Bui Kim Thoa (88 years old, residing in Quarter 13, Van Giang Ward, Ninh Binh City) said: He joined the army in January 1954, was assigned to the Transport Platoon, part of the position D1- E36- F308- corps 1.
