VHO – On the morning of April 25, at the Cultural Center of Kien Giang province, a ceremony of handing over stone instruments was held by stone instrument craftsman Truong Dinh Chieu and instructions on how to use stone instruments for 10 units and schools in the locality. Mr. Nguyen Van Sau, Director of Kien Giang Department of Culture and Sports said; The Central Highlands stone instrument is listed by UNESCO as a unique musical instrument in the cultural space. Central Highlands gongs are masterpieces of oral and intangible traditions of humanity. We hope that after receiving the stone instruments, units and schools will promote the features of the instruments to use them well, contributing to enriching the musical life of the people.

In 2012, artist Truong Dinh Chieu was recognized by the UNESCO Center for Culture, Information and Communication as the person who can perform the most musical instruments at the same time in Vietnam. Until now, he is still diligently engaged in this meaningful work, at the same time opening classes to train the next generations with the desire to preserve and promote the essence of the country’s intangible culture.

To date, Artisan Truong Dinh Chieu has awarded stone instruments to Nguyen Trung Truc Communal House, Hung Temple, Tan Hiep district… Among the 10 recipients this time include: Provincial Cultural Center, Khmer Art Troupe, Provincial Museum , Center for Culture, Sports and Broadcasting of Go Quao district, Boarding Vocational Vocational School for Ethnic Minorities in Kien Giang province, Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities in Kien Giang province, Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities in Chau Thanh district, School Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities in Giong Rieng district, Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities in Go Quao district, Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities in Ha Tien city.

Artist Truong Dinh Chieu said; In the coming time, we will continue to donate stone instruments to relics in Kien Giang province and provide guidance on how to use and play the stone instruments to perform and participate in events.
