Lao Cai continuously experiences thunderstorms, causing many houses to be damaged

At around 6:40 p.m. on April 24, a local thunderstorm occurred in Van Ban district (accompanied by hail in Khanh Yen town) causing damage to property and crops.

Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms affected 15 houses (7 houses in Lang Giang commune; 2 houses in Tham Duong commune; 5 houses in Duong Quy; 1 house in Dan Thang commune). Among them, 2 houses in Lang Giang commune suffered damage ranging from 70% to complete collapse; 3 houses had damage ranging from 50 – 70%; 1 house suffered 30 – 50% damage; 9 houses suffered less than 30% damage.

Thunderstorms also caused a lot of damage to agricultural production, with more than 10 hectares of rice and corn collapsed, and many sections of irrigation canals were broken and eroded.

In addition, heavy rain also caused erosion of the gravel road surface with a length of 20m in Khanh Yen Trung commune and a landslide of 15m in length with a volume of 60m3 of soil… According to preliminary statistics, the thunderstorm caused damage. about 720 million VND in damage.

Previously, on the night of April 17 and early morning of April 18, local thunderstorms appeared in Lao Cai province in some localities, causing damage to property, crops and people’s houses.

Accordingly, thunderstorms and heavy rain caused 151 houses to have their roofs blown off and damaged, along with dozens of hectares of crops destroyed. Total damage is estimated at nearly 3 billion VND.

Next, a thunderstorm occurred on the night of April 19 in Lao Cai province, causing more than 30 houses to have their roofs blown off, causing nearly 900 million VND in damage.

Immediately upon receiving the information, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Van Ban district visited and encouraged the damaged households.

At the same time, urge and direct communes to mobilize forces and means to support people in urgently overcoming damage according to the motto “four on the spot”.
