This is the second consecutive match of U23 Vietnam at the 2024 U23 Asia Championship taking place under the control of a Korean referee. Previously, referee Kim Woo Sung officiated the match U23 Vietnam and U23 Uzbekistan in the final round of Group D on April 23.
Referee Ko Hyung Jin is 41 years old and has been recognized as a FIFA referee since 2009. Up to this point, referee Ko Hyung Jin has been on duty in a total of 389 matches, giving out 1,302 yellow cards and 32 red cards. and blew 86 penalty situations.
This black-shirted king is no stranger to Vietnamese fans as he once controlled the match between the Vietnamese team and the Thai team in the first leg of the AFF Cup 2022 final at My Dinh Stadium. In addition, the Korean referee was once invited by VPF to referee a match in V-League 2022.
The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Iraq will take place at 00:30 on April 27 at Al Janoub Stadium (Doha, Qatar). 6 years ago in Changzhou (China), also in the quarterfinals, U23 Vietnam shocked with a 5-3 victory in the lucky penalty shootout after the two teams drew 3-3 in 120 minutes.
