Binh Thuan province after more than 32 years was re-established (1992-2024), on the basis of dividing Thuan Hai province into two provinces: Ninh Thuan province and Binh Thuan province. Currently, Binh Thuan has 09 district-level administrative units including: Phan Thiet City and 08 districts: Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham Tan, Tanh Linh, Duc Linh and Phu Quy; 109 commune-level administrative units; It has a natural area of 7,812.8 km2, with an estimated population of 1,258,788 people.
