Temporarily detained Vice Chairman of Long Xuyen City People’s Committee Dao Duy Ngoc

On April 25, the Police Department of An Giang Province served a decision to prosecute the defendant and ordered the temporary detention of Mr. Dao Duy Ngoc (61 years old, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Long Xuyen City, An Giang) to investigate his actions. Violation of regulations on compensation, support, and resettlement when the State recovers land.

After serving the litigation decisions, the An Giang Provincial Police force conducted a search warrant at Mr. Ngoc’s workplace and residence to collect documents and evidence related to the case.

Like Youth It was reported that since 2019, Mr. VVT (55 years old, deceased) took advantage of his position as Deputy Director and then Director of Long Xuyen City Land Fund Development Center to create false documents to be granted many plots of land illegally. Residential land is provided by the City Land Fund Development Center. Managed by Long Xuyen. After that, Mr. VVT took 2 plots of land with land use rights certificates to sell to a citizen for 7.2 billion VND. After that, this person sold the above two plots of land to another person for 11.5 billion VND.

The case was inspected by the Long Xuyen City Inspectorate and found violations. By July 2022, Long Xuyen City Inspector proposed to prosecute the case. On March 21, 2024, the Police Department of An Giang Province decided to prosecute the case for investigation.

Regarding the case, the Police Department of An Giang Province prosecuted and temporarily detained the defendants: Nguyen Bao Sinh (48 years old, Vice Chairman of Long Xuyen City People’s Committee); Huynh Le Phong (61 years old, former Head of the Trade and Environment Department of Long Xuyen City); Nguyen Thanh Phong (36 years old, officer of the Land Fund Development Center of Long Xuyen City) and Nguyen Thien Thanh (48 years old, officer of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Long Xuyen City) to investigate violations of regulations on compensation, support, and resettlement when the State recovers land.

According to sources of PV Youth, through inspection, there were a total of 19 plots that Mr. VVT filed falsely for and had the leaders of UN People’s City of Long Xuyen sign a decision to allocate land illegally and were subject to investigation. Among the wrong land grants, Dao Duy Ngoc, with the position of Vice Chairman of Long Xuyen City People’s Committee, signed 2 decisions to allocate land for housing to a household in My Binh Ward that is not subject to resettlement.

Previously, to serve the investigation of the case, the Police Department of An Giang Province sent an official dispatch to the leaders of Long Xuyen City to summon 15 related officials, civil servants and public employees; Among them are Mr. Nguyen Bao Sinh and Mr. Dao Duy Ngoc.
