Lao Cai Traffic Police set up 200 checkpoints to handle violations and ensure traffic safety during the April 30 holiday.

Colonel Pham Gia Chien, Head of the Traffic Police Department, Lao Cai Provincial Police, said that the unit has developed a patrol and control plan to ensure traffic safety during the holiday April 30 – May 1.

Accordingly, the Traffic Police Department will mobilize all military forces to participate with the motto of having no days off.

According to the plan, the traffic police will be the main force, coordinating with the criminal police, drug crime investigation police, mobile police, order police and police of communes, wards and towns together take drastic action to handle 5 groups of behaviors that are the direct causes of traffic accidents.

These 5 groups of behaviors include: Violating regulations on alcohol concentration and drug use when participating in traffic; Overloaded transport activities, expansion of crate walls; Control compliance with legal regulations regarding passenger vehicle operations; Traffic control on national highways; Check documents to ensure vehicle safety when participating in traffic.

Also according to Colonel Chien, on this occasion, the combined forces will establish more than 200 on-duty working groups and mobile patrols to participate in ensuring traffic safety.

Lao Cai has attractive tourist destinations such as Sa Pa, Bac Ha, Y Ty (Bat Xat), so it can attract a number of tourists to visit, which means the number of vehicles will increase.

Along with strictly handling violations, functional forces will also organize propaganda and reminders for traffic participants to raise awareness and build a safe traffic culture.
