That was the statement of Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang at a regular press conference on April 25, in response to a reporter’s question asking for Vietnam’s position on this action of China.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that Vietnam’s stance on China’s fishing ban in the East Sea is consistent and has been clearly affirmed over the years. China’s fishing ban not only violates Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Paracel Islands but also violates Vietnam’s sovereign rights and jurisdiction over the exclusive economic zone determined based on UNCLOS 1982. .

“Vietnam requests that China respect Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago, Vietnam’s sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction over Vietnam’s waters; Do not complicate the situation, contribute positively to maintaining peace, stability and order in the East Sea region,” Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said.
