Korean referee Ko Hyung-jin was appointed by AFC to control the match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Iraq in the quarterfinals of the 2024 U23 Asian Championship.

The 2024 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has officially announced the referee team to control the match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Iraq in the quarterfinals of U23 Asia 2024.
The main referee in this match is Mr. Ko Hyung-jin, a Korean. The assistants include Bang Gi Yeol (Korea) and Alrefaei Hesham Mohammed (Saudi Arabia).
This is the second consecutive match of U23 Vietnam at U23 Asia 2024 taking place under the control of a Korean referee.
Previously, the match for the top spot in Group D between U23 Vietnam and U23 Uzbekistan was controlled by referee Kim Woo-sung.
Mr. Majed Mohammed Alshamrani (Saudi Arabia) takes on the position of referee while Mr. Ahmed Eisa Mohamed Darwish (UAE) controls the VAR room.
Referee Ko Hyung-jin is no stranger as he once controlled the match between the Vietnam Team and the Thailand Team in the first leg of the AFF Cup 2022 final at My Dinh Stadium.
The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Iraq will take place at 00:30 on April 27 at Al Janoub Stadium.
This is the second time the Vietnam U23 Team has met the Iraq U23 Team in the history of the U23 Asian Finals.
6 years ago in Changzhou (China), also in the quarterfinals, U23 Vietnam shocked with a 5-3 victory in the lucky penalty shootout after the two teams drew 3-3 in 120 minutes.
At this meeting, U23 Vietnam is also very determined to create a similar miracle to put their name in the semi-finals, and at the same time get closer to a ticket to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics.
