Nghe An plans a High-tech Forestry Park in the North Central region

High-tech Forestry Park includes 3 subdivisions, total area of ​​618 hectares, employing about 70,000 workers.

Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee organized a consultation on the draft content of the General Planning Project for the construction of a high-tech forestry park in the North Central region until 2045.

According to Decision No. 509/QD-TTg, the High-tech Forestry Park in the North Central region in Nghe An province is located in Nghi Loc and Do Luong districts. This is the country’s first high-tech forestry park with the goal of developing modern forestry, producing high-quality wood and non-wood forest products along the value chain.

High-tech Forestry Park in the North Central region until 2045, with a total planning area of ​​618 hectares, including 3 specialized functional subdivisions. Of which, subdivision 1 – Forestry seedling production center applying high technology with a scale of about 48 hectares located in Nghi Lam commune, Nghi Loc district provides seedlings to serve the needs of afforestation in Nghe An province. An and other provinces in the North Central region, expected capacity of 200 million trees/year.

Subdivision 2 has an area of ​​about 530 hectares in Nghi Van, Nghi Kieu communes (Nghi Loc district) and Dai Son commune (Do Luong district). This is a high-tech wood and non-wood forest product processing zone with a synchronous technical infrastructure system in an environmentally friendly manner. Exploit and promote all potentials and advantages in terms of position and potential of the region such as raw materials, on-site labor, transportation infrastructure,… harmoniously combining the development of forestry applying high technology and form modern service areas.

Division 3 has an area of ​​about 40 hectares, located in Khanh Hop commune (Nghi Loc district). This is the area to build an e-commerce trading floor with domestic and foreign customers through the trading floor and organize international fairs for the wood processing industry in Nghe An; is an opportunity to promote raw wood and products processed from wood, bringing products closer to consumers as well as accessing scientific and technological advances in the world.

It is expected that when put into operation, the High-tech Forestry Park will employ about 60,000 to 70,000 people.

What is interesting is that in Report No. 2768/TTr-UBND dated April 9, 2024 on approving the Project to expand Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone and change its name to Nghe An Economic Zone, after expansion, The above 3 subdivisions of the High-tech Forestry Park are located within the boundaries of Nghe An Economic Zone.

Regarding this issue, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van De requested the consulting unit to accept comments from delegates to complete the planning project before May 10, 2024.

In addition, Mr. De also requested to update the Central Government’s new documents on the establishment of the High-tech Forestry Park in the North Central region until 2050.

“Departments and branches continue to carry out the tasks assigned by the Provincial People’s Committee; Do Luong and Nghi Loc districts will announce planning and collect people’s opinions before May 5, 2024. For investment phasing, it is necessary to identify content that is easy to do first and difficult to do later to attract investors,” Mr. De directed.

Also according to the Vice Chairman of the Province, Nghe An wishes to build a forestry park applying high technology to build models to transfer and train scientific and technical advances; act as an important nucleus to promote high-tech agricultural production in the province. The province will continue to implement preferential policies strong enough to attract investment and encourage agricultural production models with high scientific and technological content.
