Vietnam affirms its consistent policy on protecting and promoting human rights

According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, basic human rights and freedoms are recognized in the Vietnamese Constitution, protected and promoted by specific legal documents; implemented in practice.

On the afternoon of April 25, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, answering reporters’ questions about Vietnam’s response to the United States’ 2023 Human Rights Report published on April 22, 2024, Spokesperson Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said: Although the US Department of State’s annual Human Rights Report reflects Vietnam’s achievements and progress in protecting human rights, it unfortunately continues to include made some non-objective judgments based on inaccurate information about the actual situation in Vietnam.

Once again, Vietnam affirms its consistent policy of protecting and promoting human rights, which considers people as the center and driving force of the innovation process and national development.

Basic human rights and freedoms are recognized in the Vietnamese Constitution, protected and promoted by specific legal documents and implemented in practice.

The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson emphasized that Vietnam has been and will be discussing frankly, openly and in a constructive spirit with the United States on divergent issues to enhance understanding and thereby contribute. Be more active in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States./.


Solving social problems and taking care of people’s lives is a priority for the Party and State, which is also the most practical concern for human rights.
