Meeting to strengthen the participation of the private sector in HIV/AIDS prevention and control in Dong Nai province

On April 25, 2024, the Department of Health and Center for Disease Control of Dong Nai province organized a meeting of the Technical Support group to increase the participation of the private sector in the HIV/AIDS prevention and control program, with topic on expanding the supply market for HIV self-testing biological products.

Evonne Amaka Nkem Nwankwo-Igomu, USAID Senior Technical Advisor on HIV/AIDS; MSc. Tran Thi Tham, Deputy Director of USAID/PATH STEPS project. Also attending were representatives from USAID Vietnam, USAID/PATH STEPS project; Representatives of companies and corporations operating and providing products for the HIV/AIDS program and representatives of Clinics and Social Enterprises implementing HIV/AIDS prevention and control activities in Dong Nai province.

At the meeting, representatives of the Dong Nai Department of Health announced the Decision on establishing a Technical Support Group to increase the participation of the private sector (KVTN Technical Support Group – Private Sector Technical Support) with the intention of Investing and providing goods and services for HIV/AIDS prevention and control in Dong Nai province. The KVTN Technical Support Group officially operates to create a feedback mechanism to help promote the participation of public and private sector parties in exchanging and finding solutions and mechanisms to encourage KVTN to participate in the commodity market. At the meeting, KVTN Technical Support group members and KVTN representatives discussed and gave opinions and recommendations on strengthening the supply chain and trade for HIV self-testing biological products in Dong Nai, especially Focus on three factors: (1) Enhance product availability and distribution through traditional and non-traditional channels, (2) Pricing strategy appropriate to the target group’s affordability level and (3) Promote marketing, promotion and communication strategies to raise awareness, change behavior and effectively reach target customers.

At the end of the meeting, leaders of the Department of Health of Dong Nai province concluded and emphasized the role and cooperation of KVTN in implementing HIV goods and service supply activities in the province, especially in the context of HIV epidemics. The Department of Health commits to support and coordinate with private partners in developing and expanding the commercial market for HIV self-testing biological products, as well as other products and services in the field of HIV/AIDS. .
