Recently, an ammonia gas leak incident from Toan Van Company located in Tam Lac 2 village, Vu Lac commune, Thai Binh city, Thai Binh province, into the environment caused 8 acres of rice and many vegetable areas of people. affected people.

Specifically, at about 9:00 a.m. on April 17, a tanker semi-trailer carrying license plate 17H-018.93 (tractor part) and license plate 17R-011.26 (trailer part) was under the management of the Company. Hong Phuc Import-Export Investment Limited (abbreviated as Hong Phuc Company) carries 25 tons of liquefied ammonia gas (NH3).

The incident of leaking ammonia gas from Toan Van Company into the environment caused more than 8 acres of fields of more than 10 households in Vu Lac commune, Thai Binh city to burn leaves and some people’s crops were affected.

Hong Phuc Company was hired by Duc Giang Lao Cai Chemical Company Limited (address at Tang Loong Industrial Park, Tang Loong town, Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province) to transport ammonia gas from the Fertilizer Corporation Branch and petroleum chemicals – Joint Stock Company – Phu My Fertilizer Plant from Ba Ria – Vung Tau province to Lao Cai.

During the transportation process, the above tractor-trailer truck returned to Toan Van Company headquarters (Tam Lac 2 village, Vu Lac commune, Thai Binh city) to fill with oil. After pouring the oil, there was an incident where the tank valve was not tightened and ammonia gas leaked into the surrounding environment.

Immediately after that, Hong Phuc Company called the Police Department of Fire Prevention and Rescue – Thai Binh Provincial Police to come to the rescue. After 30 minutes from the time it happened, the incident was controlled and the tractor truck no longer leaked ammonia gas into the environment.

As noted by the reporter, a part of the rice area in the fields of Tam Lac 2 village (Vu Lac commune) next to Toan Van Company has turned yellow. Besides, many trees in people’s gardens also had their leaves burned.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Dinh Gia Dung – Chairman of Thai Binh City People’s Committee said: Immediately after receiving information about the gas leak incident at Toan Van Company, local authorities were present at the scene. to record the situation and estimate the damage. Accordingly, more than 8 acres of fields of more than 10 households in the commune were burned and some people’s crops were affected.

Currently, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Thai Binh province is establishing an interdisciplinary inspection team on the above incident and the local government and people are planning to compensate for the damage caused by the ammonia gas leak incident.
