Basic rights and freedoms of humanity recognized in the Vietnamese Constitution, protected and promoted by specific legal documents, as well as implemented in practice. Responding to a question asking for Vietnam’s reaction to China’s recent announcement of a fishing ban in the East Sea, Ms. Pham Thu Hang affirmed Vietnam’s stance on the fishing ban. China’s actions in the East Sea are consistent and have been clearly confirmed over the years.

China’s fishing ban not only violates Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago but also violates Vietnam’s sovereign rights and jurisdiction over the exclusive economic zone determined under the United Nations Convention. United Nations on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in 1982.
