On April 25, the People’s Court of Bac Lieu province held a first instance trial and sentenced defendant Ong Thi Bich Ngoc (36 years old, residing in Long Thanh commune, Vinh Loi district, Bac Lieu) to 19 years in prison for fraudulent appropriation of property. The owner of Ong Thi Bich Ngoc has appropriated more than 15 billion VND from the members.

According to the indictment, in 2010, Ngoc opened many syndicates and invited people in many localities in Bac Lieu province to join to receive commissions. By around June 2022, Ngoc announced his retirement.

From the victim’s complaint, through the investigation process, the Investigation Police Department of Bac Lieu Province determined that, while he was the owner of the family, Ngoc used the guild members’ fees for personal expenses and to cover his debts. leading to imbalance. From then on, Ngoc committed fraudulent acts to defraud the tour members of their money.

Hundreds of victims participated in the first instance trial

Ngoc opened a total of 76 hui strings, each hui string has a value from 200,000 VND to 5 million VND. Ngoc used a fake name to participate and take advantage of the group; impersonating the guild to get money, selling them falsely… Using the above trick, Ngoc fraudulently appropriated a total of more than 15 billion VND from 143 guilds.

Previously, on April 24, the People’s Court of Bac Lieu province held a first instance trial and sentenced defendant Ong Thi Kim Loi (40 years old, Ngoc’s older sister) to 15 years in prison for fraudulent appropriation of property. With the same behavior and tricks as Ngoc, defendant Loi defrauded and appropriated more than 5.6 billion VND from the team.
