However, the Social Council decided to exempt all 4 from punishment.

Four defendants in court

Therefore, all four defendants were exempted from punishment.

On the morning of the same day, the People’s Court of Tien Giang province held a first instance trial of the case “Violation of regulations on bidding, causing serious consequences” that occurred at Tien Giang CDC. This case has four defendants: Nguyen Ngoc Chon, Vo Thanh Binh, Trieu Vuong Tuyen and Dang Minh Uy.

According to the indictment, around June 2021, an outbreak began in Tien Giang COVDI-19 is becoming more and more complicated. Tien Giang CDC was assigned additional funding of more than 31 billion VND to carry out epidemic prevention work, purchase equipment and chemicals to deploy testing.

However, Nguyen Ngoc Chon and his accomplices did not comply with the legal regulations on bidding, causing damage to the state of more than 7 million VND. billion.

Accordingly, the total amount of money CDC paid to buy tests produced by Viet A Company is more than 11 billion VND.

Chon received a “kickback” from Viet A Company of 450 million VND; Tuyen received 420 million VND; Binh received 375 million VND and Uy received 782 million VND.
