Because the quarterfinal match with Uzbekistan took place late, the Vietnamese team had to return to the hotel at dawn on April 25. Therefore, the team has breakfast at 9am, later than usual. After breakfast, Mr. Diego Giustozzi’s students had nearly an hour to recover in the gym, then played relaxing table tennis.

On the same afternoon, the Vietnamese futsal team had a 1-hour training session. Before entering the tactical instruction, coach Diego Giustozzi encouraged his players’ spirit.

“I know you are sad because we lost to Uzbekistan, but let’s be proud because we did our best and played a good match. Let’s forget the score of the match but remember our tactics, style of play, performance… in that match. If you can do that in the next two matches, I believe we will have a great chance to win tickets to the World Cup,” the captain of the Vietnam futsal team expressed.

Due to having to compete continuously, the professional training sessions the day before the match also took place quite lightly. In this training session, coach Diego Giustozzi shows and guides the players in some exercises on attacking and finishing goals such as performing set situations from corner kicks, direct free kicks or boundary stone.

In the play-off match at 4:00 p.m. on April 26, the Vietnamese futsal team will face the Kyrgyzstan futsal team. Assessing this opponent, coach Diego Giustozzi said: “They are a strong team, with very good team play, experience and high bravery. Kyrgyzstan won against Japan in the group stage. This tournament format is very complicated. All teams have a great winning spirit. Their physical strength is very durable. They attack well, defend well.”

“We have improved ourselves. Vietnam futsal team had a good match against Uzbekistan despite the opponent being very strong. The players showed high fighting spirit,” coach Diego Giustozzi said about his students.
