YenBaiYen Bai City is actively implementing natural disaster prevention – search and rescue (PCTT-TKCN) according to the motto of promoting “4 on the spot”.

Last year, Yen Bai city had a total of 25 periods of moderate and heavy rain; In which, there were 2 periods of heavy rain causing damage in the area. Heavy rains are mainly due to the influence of storm circulation and compressed troughs combined with wind convergence at high altitudes…

The natural disaster caused 324 households to have their houses blown off or broken, 15 households had auxiliary structures behind their houses damaged due to landslides, and 04 rural roads were eroded; 7 public works were damaged and 25 electric poles were downed due to the storm; 36 areas were locally flooded, affecting and damaging a number of assets such as cars, motorbikes, electrical appliances, goods… of nearly 300 households in the area.

The total State budget investment and support to overcome damage caused by natural disasters in the city in 2023 is 3,241 million VND. Of which, the provincial budget supported 577 million VND, the city budget supported 2 billion 664 million VND.

According to Yen Bai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, it is forecast that the 2024 rainy and storm season will arrive later and the number of storms and tropical depressions will be lower than the average for many years. The time of occurrence is concentrated from July to October with about 05 – 06 tropical storms/tropical depressions affecting the mainland of our country, of which the number of tropical storms/tropical depressions affecting areas in There is a possibility of 2-3 storms, often in a weakened and disintegrating state, causing widespread heavy rains.

In 2024, it is forecast that the number of heat waves is likely to occur less than in 2023, however, the common temperature will be approximately higher and higher than the average of many years from 0.5 – 1.0.oC. Peak heat is concentrated in May – June with the highest common temperature 39 – 40oC. Heavy rains during the year will occur mainly from July – October 2024, the whole year’s rainfall is approximately 5 – 15% lower than the average of many years. In addition, in the changing months of April, May, September, and October, extreme phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, and hail are likely to occur.

To proactively respond to natural disaster situations, Yen Bai city requires communes, wards, agencies and units to seriously implement Directive No. 02 dated April 4, 2024 of the City People’s Committee on disaster prevention and control. TKCN. Proactively develop detailed disaster prevention and control plans in each locality, promptly respond to emerging situations; proactively review high-risk points to post warning signs, ensure safety for people, and proactively carry out disaster prevention and disaster prevention drills well, with the theme of responding to and overcoming the consequences of landslides in the area.
