More than 200 precious artifacts, images and documents from more than 70 years ago related to many activities of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Yen Bai serving the Dien Bien Phu campaign have just been announced.

VNA – More than 200 precious artifacts, images and documents from more than 70 years ago related to many activities of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Yen Bai serving the Dien Bien Phu campaign have just been announced. Thereby, a part of the heroic past of the people of all ethnic groups in the province and the whole country has been recreated, contributing to the victory “Illustrious in five continents, shaking the earth”.

Many artifacts were collected from historical places and witnesses such as: submachine guns, rifles, defensive shirts, rice sacks, emulation flags… all of which have been colored by the times. time. Many artifacts, although small and rudimentary, carry a lot of meaning, bearing the mark of a heroic period of the army and people of Yen Bai province participating in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

Mr. Hoang Tien Long, Director of Yen Bai Provincial Museum, said that documents from the period 1952 – 1954 mention historical circumstances, policy decisions and the process of direction and leadership of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee in preparing documents. pre-Campaign conditions and participation in Dien Bien Phu Campaign. Many images and artifacts published for the first time have shown the great sacrifice and merit, especially the unanimity and high determination of the people of Yen Bai province for the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

Many typical documents reflect the methodical, wise, and proactive direction of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee such as: Resolution No. 55 of the Yen Bai Provincial Executive Committee on the establishment of the Construction Site Committee to repair Road 13, dated May 2, 1953; Resolution to establish the Ba Khe – Quang Huy Construction Site Cell of the Yen Bai Provincial Executive Committee, dated January 26, 1953; Summary report of construction site 13, 1953… According to statistics of the Yen Bai Provincial Historical Archives Center, in the period 1952 – 1954, the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee issued more than 20 important resolutions to serve the Battle of Dien Bien Phu.

Among the documents collected at the rear at that time, there were many certificates, certificates of merit, handwritten wall newspapers, work books… Typical examples were: Boss Dien’s gift of rice to the resistance; Handwritten script to promote military service; Certificate of “Glorious Civilian Soldiers of the Dien Bien Phu Front”, 1954 for Mr. Bui Van Thao and Nguyen Van Duc… Each person, in each position and task is different but they all share the same goal. both for the front line, all for victory.

Each artifact and image is associated with specific locations and tasks. Many places of Yen Bai have gone down in history such as Lung Lo Pass (in Da village, Thuong Bang La commune, Van Chan district) which is a general depot for the transit of millions of tons of weapons, military equipment, and food of forces from all over the world. Here, in October 1953, the Steering Committee of Road 13A gave a pennant flag embroidered with 4 golden letters “emulating over the pass” to the youth volunteer force of Yen Bai province who were paving the way at Lung Lo pass. During this period, many heavy tasks were directly performed by the army and people of Yen Bai province, contributing to the Dien Bien Phu Victory. Typically, the task of coordinating with the army of engineers to open a road from Hien ferry terminal (Tuyen Quang) to Ba Khe to connect to road 41 (Son La) was completed in 3 months (from August to November 1953). The 188 km long route ensures smooth traffic for cars between Viet Bac base to the Northwest. This was considered a miracle, because of the large amount of work that was mostly done by human effort – a big challenge at that time. Yen Bai province mobilized tens of thousands of workers with 1,638,000 working days, taking turns working day and night. Participating in labor at this construction site, many provincial workers still kept memorabilia such as: hammers, stone chisel wedges, crowbars, pickaxes, storm lamps, drinking glasses… All of which prove the The spirit of overcoming difficulties, the will and determination to complete the route in a very short time.

Nearly 100 rare photos published for the first time truly and vividly reflect the contributions of the people of Yen Bai, associated with the task of ensuring logistics for the Campaign. Typical images include: Thai Nghia Lo compatriots serving as civilians to serve the Dien Bien Phu Campaign 1953 – 1954; Civilians of Van Chan and Nghia Lo districts woven baskets to prevent landslides to build road 13A, 1953; Young people volunteered to break rocks to build a road at the Lung Lo – Chen pass section; canoes pulling ferries at Au Lau wharf carrying weapons to the Dien Bien Phu battlefield in 1953… have preserved the moments of enthusiastic labor and the spirit of dedication to serve the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

Introducing more about these photos, Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Thuy, Director of Yen Bai Provincial Historical Archives Center, shared that currently, the locality has stored hundreds of photos during the anti-French period associated with two localities. typical name; They are: Au Lau ferry port and Lung Lo pass. Many images are very valuable such as: the image of tens of thousands of bamboo and wood trees assembled into a pontoon bridge across the Red River at Au Lau wharf, while Au Lau ferry wharf became the enemy’s fire coordinates. More than 70 years have passed, but the artifacts, images, and documents will forever demonstrate a heroic past and clarify the great contributions of the Party Committee, government and people of Yen Bai province in the Campaign.
