The largest ironwood stilt house in Vietnam, worth 200 billion VND in Dien Bien Phu

Located prominently in a resort complex in Dien Bien Phu City (Dien Bien province), the nearly 500m2 monolithic ironwood stilt house is recognized by the Vietnam Records Organization as “The largest ironwood stilt house”. Vietnam”.

The house is located on a 2,000m2 campus, completed in 2014, constructed from 500m3 of pure ironwood with more than 20,000 labors of skilled artisans.

Raw materials to build this stilt house cost more than 200 billion VND (not to mention paying for more than 20,000 workers).

The largest ironwood stilt house in Vietnam is designed according to the architectural style of the Thai ethnic people, including 7 living rooms, 3 roof rooms, each 3.8m wide.

One of the two main gates of the house has a new style but still retains the ancient architecture, the gate pillar is 3.5m high.

The stilt house is carved by artisans with motifs ranging from “dragon, lychee, tortoise, phoenix”, “pine, chrysanthemum, bamboo, apricot” to all kinds of birds, animals, flowers… vividly depicted. , delicate.

The source of ironwood used to build stilt houses and other structures is imported from Laos. Notably, these monolithic ironwood trees are more than 900 years old. Stone and tiles to build stilt houses were purchased and transported from Nghe An to Dien Bien.

The structure is sturdy with a pillar system of up to 64 columns, including 16 main columns (diameter from 60 to 80cm, height 11.9m) and 48 surrounding columns (diameter from 35 to 40cm, height 8m). The column base is cast in pure bronze with a weight of 3.5 tons.

In addition, on the first floor of the stilt house there are 14 sets of monolithic clove and rosewood traps that are 300 to 500 years old.

Not only serving tourists, the ironwood stilt house also serves diners with a capacity of 500-700 guests, with many special dishes of the Northwest ethnic people.

The table and chairs are located on the second floor of the house worth billions of dong.

The house has 25 carved paintings decorated with many sophisticated patterns on the window frames.

The highlight on the second floor of the house is a pair of vases made of yew wood that are hundreds of years old.

The stilt house has railings surrounding the front and back, 15 stairs up and down the 2 main doors with the meaning of expressing the sophistication of the view of the universe, yin and yang, five elements and beauty – life – mandarin.
