Today, April 25, the Department of Culture and Society of the Provincial People’s Council worked with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to hear a report on investment policies for 5 projects to embellish special national cultural institutions and monuments. special and cultural institutions serving the organization of the 2024 Festival for Peace. The 2024 Festival for Peace will be held in July 2024 with many meaningful activities such as: Cycling festival for peace; Special art program opens the Festival for Peace; Culinary culture festival “Taste of the sunny flower region”; Music exchange “Peaceful Melody”; Peace wish program and many other cultural, artistic, sports and tourist activities.

Within the framework of the Festival for Peace activities, a number of relics and typical cultural institutions of the province will be chosen as places to organize important events, including: Special national relics of the Hien Banks Luong – Ben Hai; Special national relic Quang Tri Ancient Citadel; Provincial Cultural and Cinema Center.

Besides, there is a place to introduce and promote cultural values ​​and experiences for tourists when coming to participate in the festival in Quang Tri.

However, cultural relics and institutions are currently damaged and degraded, not yet aesthetically pleasing to host major festival activities. Therefore, to create a new look for monuments and cultural institutions to promptly meet the needs of serving important events of the Festival for Peace as well as build the image of Quang Tri for tourists, the People’s Committee The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has directed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to conduct a survey and propose renovation of a number of construction items in the province. The total investment of 5 projects to embellish monuments and cultural institutions is more than 6 billion VND.

Concluding the meeting, Head of the Cultural and Social Committee of the Provincial People’s Council Ho Thi Thu Hang agreed on the need to invest in 5 projects to embellish monuments and cultural institutions to serve the organization of the Festival for Peace, creating good impression for tourists when coming to Quang Tri province to experience the values ​​of peace.

At the same time, it is recommended that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism carefully review project items to ensure practical effectiveness in economics, culture and tourism, and avoid wasting investment resources.

Ensuring that the renovation project items at the two special national relics Hien Luong – Ben Hai banks and Quang Tri Ancient Citadel do not overlap with the investment projects of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism that will be implemented at the end of the year 2024.

There are good, creative solutions and practices that promote the value of monuments and cultural institutions after investment to attract tourists, promote service development, and contribute to creating jobs and livelihoods for people. Participate in exploiting and benefiting from cultural heritage.

Through organizing the Festival for Peace, we can create a unique tourism product that attracts tourists to Quang Tri, gradually turning tourism into a key economic sector of the locality.
