Major directions in adjusting the City’s General Construction Planning. Lao Cai until 2045

Pursuant to Decision No. 316/QD-TTg dated March 29, 2023 of the Prime Minister on approving Lao Cai Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 and Resolution No. 16-NQ/ TU dated October 1, 2021 of the Executive Committee of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee on City development. Lao Cai to 2030, vision to 2050, City People’s Committee. Lao Cai is organizing the preparation of Adjustments to the City Construction General Planning. Lao Cai until 2045 with major, specific orientations as follows.

Regarding the urban nature of the city. Lao Cai: It is a central urban area with an important strategic position in terms of national defense and security; Center for economic exchange, foreign affairs and international cooperation of the region. Is a bridge connecting the economic corridor Kunming – Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong and the whole country with Southwest – China; key focus on tourism development, border gate services, industry, and logistics of the region, the country and internationally. It is an important inter-regional, inter-national and international traffic hub. Is the administrative and political center of Lao Cai province and a grade I urban area in the period 2025-2030…

Oriented into 9 functional subdivisions, including: Historical urban area, city administrative center. Lao Cai; Provincial administrative and public service center area; Mixed public service area, riverside ecological urban area; Ecological urban areas, forest landscapes; Border gate economy, industry and spiritual tourism…

The city aims to develop and increase the area of public space, become a green urban area (park city). In addition, some other major policies in this general planning adjustment, such as: upgrading the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh railway line to 1,435m gauge; Urban development associated with the landscape along the Red River to exploit tourism; international commercial, service, education – training, and medical projects…/.
