From a hand-printed newspaper

According to the memories of veteran revolutionary cadres such as: Nguyen Minh Vy, Ly Van Sau, Vo Van Sung… printed in the volume “We make Khanh Hoa Newspaper”, On April 26, 1946, at an expanded conference in Dai Dien Dong village (Dien Dien, Dien Khanh), the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee had a resolution to publish a newspaper of the Provincial Party Committee named Bao Thang. The newspaper name shows determination to defeat all invading enemies. After a year of preparation, in April 1947, the first issue of Thang Newspaper was published in the Hon Du war zone. At first, the Thang Newspaper team had only 5 people, led by comrade Nguyen Minh Vy – Chairman of the Provincial Administrative Resistance Committee. In the memory of the late journalist Ly Van Sau (Nguyen Ba Dan), to produce Thang Newspaper, in addition to the efforts of the journalism team, there were also the efforts of people who loved the revolution. The stone stele was taken from Dien Khanh and carried up the mountain; White paper, ink and printing roller tubes were purchased and sent to establishments in the inner city of Nha Trang. Paper had to be bought piece by piece, not a lot at the same time. Many women had to bundle paper around their thighs and tie it with rubber bands to get through the guard stations without being detected by the enemy. Gasoline and oil are collected and then stored in bamboo tubes and carried to the war zone to run engines to collect news for newspaper production… After printing, the newspapers are then transported to the districts and city of Nha Trang. “The birth of Bao Thang is a great effort, not of one or a group of people, but of dozens, hundreds of named and unnamed people, the result of a sophisticated and effective organizational system. effectively, from the war zone to the countryside, to the city and vice versa…”, journalist Ly Van Sau recalled in the article Thang – The newspaper of a time.

According to the development of the revolutionary movement, in the period from 1951 to 1975, the revolutionary newspaper of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee was successively renamed Information, New Wind, Khanh Hoa Liberation. Regardless of the name, revolutionary journalists in Khanh Hoa still maintain the fire of struggle from the Bao Thang era.

In July 1997, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the traditional day of Khanh Hoa Newspaper, General Secretary Do Muoi sent a letter to congratulate the newspaper. From Nha Trang, many reporters take buses to work in Tuy An and Dong Xuan (northern Phu Yen province). When traveling, they have to bring bicycles to have transportation to the communes. In the 1980s, Phu Khanh Newspaper had many developments, its news stories became more and more closely linked to real life.
