“There is an ancient saying: Leaving a whole chest of gold for your child is better than sitting down and reading a good book to your child. That is, tangible materials, gold, silver, and money are just means and will gradually decrease and be lost if we do not know how to use them properly. But knowledge will make us have a beautiful soul, strong mind and body,” the speaker shared.

He said reading culture is the key to helping each person have a good way to access knowledge, thereby gaining many skills and life capital.

The cultural speaker cited two cases: Writer – Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Ngoc Ky – the first teacher to write with his feet. He overcame fate and adversity with extraordinary energy to inspire many generations of students across the country with publications that have been reprinted many times.

Similarly, Professor Tran Van Khe is a famous researcher of traditional Vietnamese culture and music. He was the first to bring Vietnamese traditional music beyond national borders and raise it to the level of traditional music of world civilizations.

Having spent more than half his life traveling in foreign lands, Professor Tran Van Khe has never forgotten that he is a Vietnamese. He always spoke Southern, used Vietnamese, wrote poetry and articles in his native language. Until the day he left, Tran Van Khe still held Vietnamese nationality.

Prof. Dr. Tran Van Khe once had a famous saying: “No one can choose the place to be born, no one can force the circumstances to follow them and they must know how to adapt to the circumstances.”

Both teacher Nguyen Ngoc Ky and Professor Tran Van Khe had difficult circumstances but never lost their national spirit. They always love their country, their roots, and desire to contribute with a hope that they will help young people love, understand and develop the national culture properly.

“Culture is the foundation that promotes the internal strength within each person. If learning and working do not start from culture and identity, we will be lost. You need to be aware of what is lacking in order to supplement and improve. First is to study and work well, then to promote love for the homeland and fellow countrymen in the modern and integrated era,” he shared.

Hundreds of students expressed excitement and interest in the content shared during the discussion. Student Vo Thi Nha Linh said the exchange helped her and her friends gain more knowledge about culture and soft skills in the school environment. This is also the foundation for students to be more stable when entering society to work and develop their lives.
