Energy and minerals – Vietnam’s new development space

On the morning of April 26, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien chaired a conference to deploy plans to implement national sector plans on energy and minerals.

The conference approved 3 reports on: Plan to implement the Planning for exploration, exploitation, processing and use of minerals in the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050; Plan to implement the National Energy Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050; Plan to implement the national petroleum and gas reserve and supply infrastructure planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050.

The plans have proposed a series of new mechanisms, including diversifying capital sources and investment forms, creating favorable business conditions for businesses of all economic sectors to invest in the energy and tourism sectors. mineral exploration, exploitation and processing, meeting the country’s economic development requirements in the new situation.

The plan to implement the plans has identified tasks, solutions, methods, and coordination mechanisms between ministries, branches and People’s Committees of provinces and cities, professional associations, and businesses for implementation. Implement planning, ensuring synchronization, unity, optimization, and resource efficiency.

Plans for implementing plans ensure synchronization and cohesion with plans for implementing national plans, plans for other sectors and fields, and provincial plans.

Speaking at the conference, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized that mineral and energy planning is the “bread” of the economy, indispensable in the process of economic and social development.

These are important legal bases serving the state management of the industry. From there, opening up new development space for Vietnam’s energy and mining industry to be more efficient and sustainable, in line with the development trend of green economy, circular economy, and low carbon economy.
